By her third day in law school, Deborah Schneider
was already thinking "“What have I gotten myself into?"
While she ultimately graduated law school, Deborah quickly
gravitated to a business position at the Internet book seller
VarsityBooks.com and then a job at a legal technology provider.
After completing an intensive career development training course offered by Richard Bolles, author of the best-selling job-search book What Color Is Your Parachute, Deborah eventually ended up in a permanent position as Associate Director of Career Development at the University of California Hastings College of the Law.
Most recently, Deborah has published a book Should You
Really Be A Lawyer? (now for sale in the "Books"
category on JD Bliss and at Deborah's website). While a key
goal of the book is to help law students decide if a legal
career is right for them, Deborah observes that the book also
holds great value for lawyers concerned about their own career
options:
"Our book aims to help these lawyers look at their
own career decision-making process, get beyond those mental
traps that typically trigger career confusion, and choose
jobs they’ll enjoy."

Larry likes to point out that he scores as an ESTJ on the
Myers-Briggs personality test -- which means he is a results-oriented
extrovert who likes to organize projects and get things done.
This insight has helped Larry chart a career path that has
brought him maximum satisfaction.
After graduating cum laude from Seton Hall University
law school in 1981, Larry started out practicing municipal
law in Madison, Wisconsin. However, he quickly returned to
his journalistic roots when opportunity came knocking in the
form of an offer to serve as editor of the ABA Journal. Another
major step came in 1992, when Larry became Director of Communications
for Sidley & Austin, and created the firm's first website.
Larry's exposure to the Internet and entrepreneurial disposition
led him to launch the Law Marketing Listserv in 1996
- an online discussion group for legal marketing professionals.
Over the years, Larry grew the Listserv into The Law Marketing
Portal - the #1 online destination for legal marketers
with such resources as a job board, online store, article
library, blog, and email newsletter that goes out to over
4,000 subscribers twice a month.
Larry currently serves as the Regional Director for North
America of the PM Forum, a global organization
of 4,000 marketers in law, accounting and management consulting.

After graduating cum laude from the New York University
School of Law in 1993, Joshua started work as a bankruptcy
litigator at Kaye Scholer, a large law firm in New
York City. However, he ultimately concluded that his personality
was not well suited to the combative nature of litigation,
and that he instead preferred a more collaborative environment.
He ultimately ended up as a senior executive at an Internet
dot-com where, drawing on organizational skills honed as a
litigator, he managed a multi-million dollar technology project
encompassing various web and e-commerce components.
After the dot-com folded - a casualty of the market crash
- Joshua co-founded Envoy Messsaging, Inc. as
a provider of website, email, blog and search engine optimization
services to businesses. Envoy now services the Internet marketing
needs of over 120 corporations, professional service firms,
and nonprofit organizations. Through its eLawMarketing
division, Envoy develops electronic marketing solutions tailored
to the needs of individual attorneys and law firms, including
DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, Fenwick & West, Stroock & Stroock
& Lavan, Loeb & Loeb, Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy, and Farella
Braun + Martel.
In September 2004, Joshua launched JD Bliss as a resource
for attorneys seeking greater career satisfaction and work
life balance. The company's subscriber base has quickly grown
to over 27,000 attorneys nationwide.
