News from the "New" Editor (Meet Dr. Obs!)
By: Todd A. Wiggins, Cohen Pollock Merlin Axelrod & Small, P.C.

On the heels of winning the first place award for our chapter's e-newsletter at the ALA National Conference in Philadelphia, I have the honor and privilege of taking over as the Director of our newsletter. I want to personally thank Debbie Goldman for her hard work and dedication in putting together an e-newsletter that is truly the envy of ALA chapters throughout the country. It is because of professionals such as Debbie that our chapter is among the best there are. Unfortunately for me, she has set the bar rather high, and now I have my work cut out to uphold her standards. I can only hope I am up to the task.

You may notice a new look to this month's e-newsletter with fresh colors, headers and flash to more closely resemble that of our award winning website. Content, on the other hand, will be largely the same as in previous issues. I hope to continue the emphasis on education in various areas such as HR, IT, Employment Law, etc. while installing some lighter, fun articles. Personally, if I read another article that tries to explain HIPAA regulations, I honestly think my head will explode!

One feature that will be added to all future issues is a column titled "Ask Dr. Obs". The best way to describe this column is relating it to that of "Dear Abby" and "Ann Landers", not necessarily for personal/relationship type of questions but rather questions arising out of our positions as Legal Administrators….. although all questions will be considered for publication, even those of a personal nature. We have a very qualified, anonymous, "expert" administrator (no, it's not me!) who has volunteered to answer selected questions and I will publish 3 or 4 in each newsletter. I hope this column will not only serve as a resource to ask questions not normally posed at section or chapter meetings, but will also be fun and entertaining. My challenge to you is to come up with questions that will stump our expert, or one's so outrageous as to generate talk around the water cooler for weeks to come. Questions can be submitted either by e-mailing askdrobs@atlanta-ala.org. or by US Mail to:

Lastly, I would like to invite feedback from you as to the chapter's e-newsletter. Is the content what you want/need? Is there something I could add to better serve you in your roll as a Legal Administrator? Is there a specific topic that has yet to be addressed that you would like to see? I think it is important for you to know the e-newsletter is designed for YOU, those of the Atlanta chapter. Therefore, I welcome all feedback, both positive and negative. I truly would like to know your thoughts. Please e-mail all comments to twiggins@atlanta-ala.org.

Thanks and happy reading!
